- Application rates: Add approximately one handful of grit (40-50g) to each litre of compost and mix well.
- Horticultural Potting Grit Provides extra drainage when added to compost. Helps with drainage when mixed into heavy soil. The perfect accompaniment for cacti, succulents and alpines. This horticultural grade grit is a gardener’s favourite as it can be used to complete many jobs around the garden.
- Horticultural grit is often mixed with compost or peat to create a soilless rooting medium that drains well. The loose structure of the mixture is beneficial for germination and for rooting cuttings.
- Many plants do well with a combination of one part horticultural grit to two parts peat or compost, while cactus and succulents generally prefer a grittier 50-50 mix. A thin layer of grit on top of the potting mix is also beneficial for many plants.
