Overview – These network outletfaceplates are a perfect fitting for cables that have been run between roomsbeneath floors and behind walls. The quad faceplate is fitted to astandard double box and the single faceplates to a single box using theincluded fixing screws, just like an aerial socket or power outlet. Thennetwork cable can be attached to the RJ45 sockets in just a few minutes, usingan IDC termination tool. Simply strip off a short section of the outer cableinsulation and follow the colour coded labels on the sockets to push eachinternal wire into the corresponding connection using an IDC tool (the internalwires on the network cable do not need stripping).
The use of IDC connectors, meansthe socket itself actually pierces the wire’s plastic insulation as it ispushed in, doing away with the need for excessive, intricate wire stripping,thus making installation as easy and fast as possible. The colour codingon the side of each port is TIA/EIA-568B. They can be wired in the A format ifrequired however colour coding for the A format is not illustrated on theproduct itself and a wiring diagram would be required.
This kit is designed for feeding 2rooms with faceplates into one neat and compact faceplate at a central/otherlocation. We also stock a CAT5e version, please search our shop or get in touchfor more details.
Types of Wiring – Depending on the application in which you hope to use it, thesocket can be wired in either the ‘straight through’ or ‘cross-over’configurations.
‘Cross over’ wiring is usually used for connecting 2 computersdirectly to one another, without the use of a Hub or Router. They useTIA/EIA-568-A wiring at one end, and TIA/EIA-568-B at the other.
‘Straight through’ cables can be used for connecting a PC or games console to aHub/Router, or, in conjunction with AV extender devices, for audio and videodistribution throughout a home or commercial project. To create a ‘Straightthrough’ cable, it should be wired using the same wiring variant at both ends.Either ‘TIA/EIA-568-A to TIA/EIA-568-A’ or ‘TIA/EIA-568-B to TIA/EIA-568-B’
